KEYNOTE SPEAKER

So who is this guy anyway?

Hey I’m Sean Ryan Hakim. Full disclosure someone underhandedly stole my original domain ‘Sean Hakim’ the minute it expired and won’t sell it back to me. Seriously! So I’m using my full name instead. I gotta say I bet there are a lot less Sean Ryan Hakim’s out there then Sean Hakim’s, so it all worked out. Digression complete.

So what do you want to know? Well, I’ve been chasing my dreams (and occasionally tripping over them) since I was a kid. At 8 years old, I decided I wanted to be an actor. By 10 after my parents divorced, I wanted to be a musician. At 14, I saw a motivational speaker on stage at my school and thought to myself, “Hmmm…hold my Fresca.”

Life though, as it should be, wouldn’t stop testing me. When I was 18, my dad drowned while he was on vacation. He never got to live out his dreams, and that hit me hard. I realized at that moment I didn’t want to waste my one shot at life…so I went all in.

By 20, I was already a motivational speaker. I performed in A Whole New Perspective with 2 other amazing actors and created Get Sparked! when I went solo. During that time I ended up speaking to over a million people and creating over 100 motivational videos on YouTube.

I kept pursuing acting along the way. I nabbed a few principal acting roles in shows like Relic Hunter (twice), Sue Thomas F.B.Eye, Exhibit A, and even a reality series called The Call, doing a few commercials and several theatre productions.

Music pulled me in at a very young age too. I started my band Starchild X, had a hit on Virgin Radio with Superstar, and signed a record deal with Ultra Records. The band quickly broke up, in conjunction with my marriage, and I took a break making music for awhile. These days, however, I’m working on my new solo music project called Chaos Light Theory.

And then there’s writing. I’ve always written things. A couple screenplays, a few short stories, live shows, tonnes of songs, and love letters to Jackie Richardson in Grade 2. 21 Laws (for the living — ’cause it’s hard to live them when you’re dead) took me 8 years to write though. It’s an ounce of philosophy, a dollop of comedy (i think), and a gallon of me. My first novel, The Argonaut, a story about a young boys journey of struggle in a strange new world, will be out by the end of 2026.

That’s me in a nutshell (apologies given to those with anaphylaxis).

So I guess in way I’m an an actor who writes, a speaker who sings, and a musician who sometimes forgets what year it is (1984 right?). A reluctant philosopher, and sometimes an accidental comedian on purpose. But mostly, I’m just a guy trying to live his dreams before it’s too late…and maybe reminding you how important it is for you to do the same.

You can find my latest projects (and some hidden gems) here, in the totally unwanted domain of seanryanhakim.com.
